IDEAL LENGTH: 5-7 DAYS

Iceland may not be the first destination that comes to mind when you think of honeymoons, but there is an undeniable romantic charm about the country. A week-long visit means you have the opportunity to explore the best sights of the country. With hot springs, quirky towns and mesmerising waterfalls, it's easy to see the magic Iceland brings, making a perfect start to married life. Reykjavik is a great base for exploring some of Iceland (it is only around 50km from the Blue Lagoon), but many visitors choose to move around the country to make the most of their trip. An added excitement of Iceland is the opportunity to see the Aurora (Northern Lights). This spectacle, as shown in the top photo, can be caught year-round in Iceland. However, for the best chance of seeing it, late September to late March is most suitable as the nights are at their longest during this period.

FUN FACT:

There are no Starbucks or McDonald's Restaurants in the whole of the country. The last McDonald's in the country closed in October 2009.
